About this blog

I guess this blog is pretty self explanatory but here goes anyway..

I'm a huge pizza fan - massive in fact. I'll happily eat pizza every day and have done for years and I still love it. The problem with pizza in the UK is that delivery is often slow and expensive and you have to buy a whole pizza. We're not lucky enough to just be able to grab a slice like those lucky dogs in the US of A often we have to turn to a frozen pizza.

Finding a good frozen pizza in Britain is tricky and what I'm looking for is a pizza that tastes like a takeaway pizza. I'm looking to replicate the smell, texture and pleasure you get from a take away pizza but without the £20 price tag or the 45 minute wait.

I've been on this journey for a perfect pizza now for some time but now I've eaten so many I'm getting confused as to which ones I liked and which ones were garbage and I keep buying the wrong ones! I'm using this blog to keep track of the good, bad and the ugly and will hopefully help you find a frozen pizza that you can really enjoy.

A few notes on this blog -

- I only review thin, stonebaked pizzas overall. I'm not a deep crust/ deep dish fan. I cant stand all that dough and eating a deep crust pizza reminds me of eating a pillow so if you prefer a deep pan this blog aint for you (and you're crazy)

- Pizzas reviewed on this site tend to be available country wide. You can ask me to review a pizza that you really like but if it's only available at a single deli in your tiny village of Chedderston on Cheese then there's really no point.

- "Make your own dough and buy a pizza stone and get your oven up to 400C then sacrifice a virgin at midnight and blah blah blah..." I've tried the stone, sever in fact that will be featured here, I've made my own dough millions of times and have even built a log fired stove in my garden. I will feature all of these over time as titbits (or tidbits as the yanks say) but for the purpose of this blog and the quest for quick, cheap, enjoyable pizza I'll just be cooking and reviewing frozen or refrigerated pizza in a conventional fan assisted electric oven. The thin crust pizzas do work best when cooked directly on the oven shelf but this gets messy as melted cheese often drips off and burns onto your oven floor so I use a this pizza pan -

So stay tuned, feel free to comment and lets enjoy some za! (sorry)
